Memurai for Redis 8 RC1: Preview Redis 8.2-Compatible Performance on Windows Ahead of GA

Technical articles and news about Memurai.

Memurai for Redis 8: Release Candidate (RC1)

Announcing the release of Memurai for Redis 8 Release Candidate 1 (RC1), delivering Redis 8.2-compatible performance to Windows ahead of our general availability (GA) release.

Users can now run Redis 8.2-compatible workloads natively on Windows, taking advantage of enhanced performance and improved data structures that benefit all application workloads, without compromising compliance, existing infrastructure, or the need to manage cross-platform complexity. Support for RediSearch and RedisJSON modules, which unlock advanced AI capabilities such as vector search, RAG, and semantic caching, will follow shortly in a subsequent release.

RC1 is designed for development teams, system architects, and early adopters who want to validate Memurai for Redis 8 in their Windows environments before committing to production deployments.

What to Expect in RC1

With RC1, you can:

  • Run Redis 8.2-compatible workloads natively on Windows with improved performance across core data structures.
  • Validate your existing Redis-based applications against the Redis 8 engine on Windows.
  • Experiment with performance optimizations and new data structures that benefit broader application workloads.
  • Prepare your Windows environments ahead of the upcoming RediSearch and RedisJSON module releases, which will enable full-text search, JSON document storage, and AI-ready features such as vector search and RAG.

At Memurai, we’re using the RC1 testing period to:

  • Gather feedback on real-world Windows deployment scenarios.
  • Validate performance and stability across diverse enterprise environments.
  • Address any platform-specific edge cases before GA.

System Requirements and Limitations

Memurai for Redis 8 RC1 is aligned with Redis 8.2. RC1 supports all Microsoft Windows Server and Desktop versions, including Windows Server 2016 and later, and Windows 10 and later.

RC1 is for evaluation and testing only and is not recommended for production. Users running Memurai 4.2.2 or earlier should not upgrade production instances to RC1. Instead, set up a separate testing environment.

The GA release of Memurai for Redis 8 will incorporate feedback and improvements from RC1 adopters. The RediSearch and RedisJSON modules will be released shortly after RC1, bringing full AI and search capabilities to Windows.
